The junior team faces a Vuelta a Valladolid with temperatures

Vuelta a Valladolid
From 19th to 21st of July

One week after the Bizkaiko Itzulia the junior team will continue its calendar at the Vuelta a Valladolid. 4 stages over three days, including an individual time trial and high temperatures, will be what the six riders of the Polti Kometa team will find.

Iker Díaz, eighth in the last national championships and Eleazar Jiménez, vice-champion of Spain, will compete again with the team after showing a great regularity during the Vuelta al Besaya and the Spanish Championships. Along with them Iván Loaisa, who also participated in the Vuelta al Besaya and was 15th in the time trial of the national championship. Hugo Pradas will be the fourth rider on the list with the same calendar as the aforementioned riders and will compete in a bid to build on good performance. Finally, Óscar Orts and Robinson Rincón, who will repeat in the line-up after competing in Bizkaia.

The route of the Vuelta a Valladolid will be characterised by short but explosive climbs with no rest when reaching the summit. It will be a demanding terrain to which the influence of high temperatures and the possibility of wind will have to be added. A time trial during the second sector of the second stage could make the difference between the riders in the general classification of the race. The last stage will also have an uphill finish, which could end up deciding the winner of the race.

“The wind will be the protagonist and the team will have to be more united than ever. There will be moments in the race where the team will have to be in front and be able to manage some dangerous situations in the best possible way. There will also be a time trial that could decide a lot about the general classification of the race”, explains Isaac Cantón, director of the junior team.

“We are going to the Vuelta Valladolid with the desire to fight for the race. I’m coming back to the competition with a lot of enthusiasm and confidence”, says Iván Loaisa.
