The Hungarian cyclists Karl Adam and Vas Balazs will be the stagiaires of the Kometa Cycling Team this year
The commitment of the continental structure of the Alberto Contador Foundation to the development of Hungarian cycling takes a new step forward with the confirmation of the new Magyar riders who will join the Kometa Cycling Team as stagiaires. Karl Adam and Vas Balazs will disembark in the team directed by Jesus Hernández from next August 1st, joining his compatriot Márton Dina. Adam and Balazs will follow in the footsteps of Alejandro Ropero and Stefano Oldani, stagiaires in 2018.
Karl Adam (September 9, 1999) is a rider who stands out for having a good mid-mountain pass, which together with a good top speed makes him a rider with a lot of distance within small groups. In the recent Tour of Hungary, Adam finished sixth in one of the stages. “I am really happy to have this opportunity to join the Kometa cycling team. I’m looking forward to developing with the squad, where I’m going to try my best in the next few races,” said Adam.
Vas Balazs (17 July 2000) is the current Hungarian cyclo-cross champion, a discipline in which he has enjoyed national success since the junior category. In his first season more focused on the route he has stood out as a good time trialist over short distances. He is a rider with a good technique on the bicycle. “I am very, very happy for this opportunity and I just want to do my best. It’s great news for me, especially as I’m only 18 years old. My main goal right now is to be part of the team,” says Balazs. “In a cyclist with a great margin of growth”, highlights from the Hungarian federation the national technician Der Zsolt.
Ivan Basso, sports manager of the Kometa Cycling Team: “We continue to take steps in the process of getting involved with Hungarian cycling. Both Karl and Vas are two riders that we have been monitoring in recent times and we think they are ready to live an experience of apprentices like this. We are very proud of this work side by side with the technical managers of the Hungarian Cycling Federation, with Dér Zsolt at the front. We continue to analyse all categories and we don’t rule out the possibility that in the near future, why not, we will be able to incorporate other riders into other structures”.
Prinzinger Peter, president of the Hungarian Cycling Association: “A good example for the healthy operation of Hungarian bicycle sport is that more and more Hungarian bikers get opportunities at large international teams. It is also a perspective for the young generation, as it seems that there is a result of invested work”.
