The Festa del Perdono celebrates cycling in Terranuova Bracciolini with the demanding Ruota d’Oro

Edoardo Alleva, Marcel Camprubí, Francisco Muñoz, Manuel Oioli, and Gabriele Raccagni make up the quintet with which the U23 structure of the Contador Foundation resumes the competitive pulse in the calendar with an exciting goal in the nearest horizon as the Piccolo Giro di Lombardia on October 2. The Ruota d’Oro, one of the most traditional races in his calendar, will be the starting point of this return. The EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team heads for the province of Arezzo, in Tuscany.
The geography of the Valdarno Aretino, hilly and winding lands where the ‘balze’ (ravines for some, cliffs or cliffs for others; unmistakable, however, for all) take on a cycling competition that is circumscribed to the festive days of the Festa del Perdono that is celebrated in many towns of the area during these dates. The festival dates back to the end of the 16th and beginning of the 17th century and always takes place on the fourth Sunday in September. In Terranuova Bracciolini, the Festa del Perdono is the most important of the year.
The event, focusing on the sporting aspect, takes place on a 173-kilometre route resulting from the combination of up to six circuits. The resulting menu, a profile punctuated by several climbs, such as Cima Berna, Montemarciano, Persignano, Piantravigne, Cicogna or Cima Monticello. All of them are not excessively long climbs, a maximum of two and a half or three kilometres, but with ramps in the double digits.
