The Clásica de Pascua examines the good moment of the EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team
59ª Clásica de Pascua
Padrón – Padrón (145 km)
What would have been one of the great novelties in the Calendar of the Copa de España Elite and U23 of the 2020 season has ended up making its debut a year later. The great Galician race, an event with more than half a century of tradition, has not wanted to be out of the Cup for the second consecutive year and for that reason, within the modifications and postponements that took place in the first months of the year, it has been relocated to this first Saturday of May.
The route has been increased to 150 kilometres, with five scoring climbs and five non-punctuated ones that will make the race tougher. The Alto de Pereira will be crowned at kilometre 126 and shortly afterwards, the Alto de Fornarís, which is not a scoring climb. There will be some steep slopes ahead, but these difficulties will be the key points for the offensives and the selection of the group.
The U23 team of the Contador Foundation travels in top form, immersed in a good competitive dynamic and with room for further growth. Vicente Hernaiz, Álvaro García, Álex Martín, David Martín, the Italian Andrea Montoli, Yago Segovia and Fernando Tercero make up the team called up by Rafa Díaz Justo for this race.
David Martín from Seville, with 185 points, is in fifth place in the provisional classification of the Spanish Cup, which is led by Pau Miquel with 350 points. The rider from Mairena de Aljarafe scored in a complete and demanding event like the Santikutz Klasika and now awaits a race with a much more favourable profile in which he can score interesting points to continue his climb in the competition. Fernando Tercero is eleventh, with 128 points. In the team classification the EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team will travel to Galician lands in the provisional fourth position of the competition, with 152 points.
