Team Polti Kometa wraps up the Cro Race with Mattia Bais 10th in the GC

Giovanni Lonardi’s 15th place in the last sprint in Zagreb won by Kogut (Israel) does not overshadow the great performances of the sprinter from Team Polti Kometa in a Cro Race where he secured two second places and a third, wore the leader’s jersey for a day and finished 2nd in the points classification just behind Andresen from DSM. Additionally Mattia Bais confirmed his 10th place in the GC which he earned on the Istrian climbs two days ago, defending it over the weekend with the support of his teammates.

A commendable result for Bais (in the header photo) in a race won by UAE’s McNulty: “These have been a tough competition also due to the cold weather, which led to two course shortenings” commented the rider from Trentino, “I’m happy I was able to give my all on the Labin’s wall in the queen stage. Now I’m looking to conclude the season on a high with Tre Valli Varesine and Lombardia!”

Here’s the assessment of the sports director Biagio Conte: “It was a tough final act due to the pace set by the top teams to control the breakaway of five riders, Lonardi got stuck in the two tight corners before the finish but there remains the satisfaction of the solid work done. Proof of this is Mattia’s presence among the top riders, making us contenders on every type of course.”
