Team Polti Kometa closes on the attack a “polka dot” Boucles de la Mayenne

Team Polti Kometa concludes their first participation in the Boucles de la Mayenne with an aggressive approach. In the breakaway of six men that ultimately went all the way with two of them, both Diego Sevilla (the highest placed rider of his squad in the GC at 25th place) and Erik Fetter were present. After the two Polti Kometa riders were caught, respectively at 40 and 5 kilometers from the finish line, Manuel Peñalver finishes 9th in the group and 11th in the sprint in Laval, behind the winner Retailleau (Decathlon). Alex Martín definitively wears the polka dot jersey he conquered yesterday.

Fetter: “We worked very well up there together with Diego, it wasn’t easy to maintain the pace in the final kilometers, with quite a bit of wind, and unfortunately I wasn’t able to go for the win as I would have liked. I’ll try again!”

Sevilla: “We lacked some results in this race, but we showed the usual attitude towards breakaways and we won the climbers’ classification with Alex. We aim to do even better in the upcoming events.”

Sports director Biagio Conte: “We had planned an attacking last raceday with Erik and Diego, with the latter having only a minute’s gap from the GC leader Bettiol. The two guys were stubborn but the group behind didn’t leave room for possible surprises in the standings. Manuel did well to contest a sprint just outside the top-10, well supported by Javier, and Alex naturally managed himself and confirmed his KOM jersey.”
