Ropero: “A good day tor the team”
Tour de l’Ain (2.1)
Stage 1: Châtillon-Sur-Chalaronne – Val-Revermont (151 km)
It’s always good to see the blue jerseys up there at the front, although the desire to see a victory still remains strong and kicks in. Stage one at the Tour de l’Ain, the easiest of the three, saw our guys do well to stay in the top group and Ropero able to hit a Top 15 on the day that saw Jake Steward (FDJ) win.
” It was a fast stage for the whole team and the whole group, there was a breakaway with three riders and some teams worked to keep it under control until 15 km from the finish. On the first climb the group then reduced, and the team was superb in working to stay in this small group and so we stayed in front until 8 km to go. Since Lonardi and Bevilacqua had dropped off I tried to stay in front to make the sprint and in the end I arrived in the top 15. I think it was a good day for the team, we are ready for the next two days which will be even more difficult.”
