Samuel Novak
U23
The cyclist from Bratislava is the first athlete of Slovakian nationality to compete in the rosters of the Fundación Contador since the creation of its various sports structures. Novák, who has been competing with Borgo Molino Vigna Fiorita for the last two seasons as a junior, has obtained very interesting results in the Italian 2023 calendar, with victories in the Coppa Montes in Monfalcone, in the Trofeo Ottavio Bottecchia in Aviano or in the Vittorio Veneto-Cansiglio. “I started cycling when I was nine years old. I entered this world thanks to my father, Miroslav, who practised it and competed at Slovak level”, he explains. “I consider myself what in Italy they call a ‘passista’, but first and foremost I am a team rider: at Borgo Molino I have worked for our fast men all season long”. Novák brings his fondness for orographically challenging routes, where he believes he can contribute and hone his qualities: “I like climbs a lot, in general. I tend to adapt well to hard and demanding races and the harder they are, the better I end up doing”.
