Robinson Rincón Quijano

Hailing from Bicicletas Strongman, the Yopal Casanare (Casanare state) based rider, although born in neighbouring Boyacá, is one of the great talents of Colombian cycling, with special aptitude for the fight against the clock. Rincón Quijano, who already had competitive experience in Europe this season after his time in the prestigious Giro della Lunigiana with a team from his country, will be the second South American rider to be part of the youth squad after the experience with Samuel Flórez in 2023. The cycling foundations of Rincón Quijano are, as in so many cases, in the family environment. The father, who starts mountain biking, chains various routes and rides and ends up being accompanied by other members of the household. “I took part in some of those rides and that’s where the love began”, he jokes. Little by little, by attending and participating in small competitions in the area, he was achieving success. Small steps in festival races. “In the process, we realised that we had some potential, especially from the cadet age,” says the runner. It was a time when his footballing inclination, which began at the age of five, began to fall by the wayside: Until the age of twelve or thirteen he played football and was in the school of Atlético Nacional. Outside of cycling, Robinson likes to help out as much as possible on the family farm, ‘Morena Mía’, whether it is purely agricultural or administrative matters. “I enjoy training a lot, it is one of my hobbies as well as helping on the farm or reading books: we live in a broken area, and in a beautiful city, which lends itself very well to the practice of this sport and to work my specialty: the time trial”.
