Mirco Maestri
Pro team
Mirco was born in Guastalla (Reggio Emilia) in 1991, and lived his entire pro career in Bardiani CSF before moving to EOLO-KOMETA, in 2022. An experienced rider, professional since 2016, his palmares includes a points classification win at the 2019 Tirreno-Adriatico and second place in the same classification in the 2017 edition. His other wins include a stage and general classification at the 2018 Tour of Rhodes, a stage at the 2019 Tour of China, the Slovenian-Istrian GP, and the GP Slovenia in 2021. In 2019, he came close to success in a stage of the Giro d’Italia, mocked after a very long breakaway: the mock was unfortunately repeated in 2022, in the Cuneo stage, when Mirco was caught a few hundred meters from the finish line after a long breakaway. Last year, Maestri stood out once again for his ability to put himself at the service of his teammates (he is the perfect rider for Lonardi’s sprints) and for the podium he achieved at the Tour Poitou-Charentes. “I really hope to be able to return to the Giro and fulfill the great dream of winning a stage, a dream that I came close to twice but continue to pursue. From this team I have received so much, and I think I have also given something from a human point of view. Now, as I have always done, I turn the page because for me every year is as if it were the first. I want to put myself on the line, I want to prove that I have deserved my place in the team, I want to help the team and … deserve the Giro call-up, because there is an open account.” His victory he carries in his heart is the points jersey at Tirreno-Adriatico, his favorite dish a nice grilled fiorentina (rare), in his spare time he plays video games, and his heart place is Casoni di Luzara, where he was born.
