Revolution in the rankings, but Diego Rosa remains in blue

Everyone said it, that this would be the most complicated stage. Not the hardest, not the toughest: but the most complicated. And indeed, the Santena-Turin did not betray expectations: overturning the general classification (Carapaz is the new pink jersey), rehabilitating those who had gone out of the game (Yates stage winner), giving roars to the old lion (Nibali splendid fourth). And the EOLO-KOMETA? The goal of the day was to defend Rosa’s blue jersey, and the goal was achieved with Diego passing first on the Pilonetto KOM and then choosing to save his strength for the challenges to come.

Lots of heat, lots of people, a beautiful stage. And a last week in which we will try in every way to hit the chosen and declared goal: to win a stage, and make unforgettable a Giro that is already beautiful.

Diego Rosa: “At the beginning I tried to take away the reakaway, it would have been a great day to make some cash with the blue jersey points: unfortunately there was no agreement, and I had to settle for passing on the first KOM Too bad, because there were so many people on the course and it gave me goosebumps even though it was 35 degrees: these are my roads, everyone was shouting my name, riding like this is really beautiful.”
