Pietrobon’s day: “Wanting is power.”
Gran Piemonte (1.Pro)
Omegna-Bienasco (198 km)
In a race like this, on an afternoon like this, it is not difficult to choose what to talk about to recount a race that flew by on an afternoon when summer decided to give us another day of heat and sunshine. Because for us, it was Andrea Pietrobon‘s day: very good, in one of his first races as a Pro, to hit the breakaway of the day and to grit his teeth as much as he could while chasing the dream of holding on to the finish line. Of course, it was tough: because at this level you go fast and it’s not easy to stay with the leaders. “However,” he said, exhausted, right after the finish line, “I am happy. Because the goal was to be able to break away and I did, because being in front is always nice, because I think I gave some visibility to the team. Of course, I was convinced I was going to be able to stay with the top group: instead I broke away on the flat, and that had never happened to me. They were going so, so fast. All extra experience, anyway: and as it says on our uniforms… Wanting is power! So, the goal is to grow again, more and more.”
