Padrón and Vigo, the last stops of a bittersweet and feelings found Copa de España
The 2023 edition of the Spanish Cup Elite and U23 reaches its conclusion this weekend with a double commitment in Galicia. The Rutas Xacobeas de Padrón and the Vigo Spanish Cup in the city of Olívica put the last points at stake and close some classifications that this time have no contenders of the U23 structure of the Contador Foundation. The Cup is complex and the vicissitudes of the season in the form of injuries, crashes and so on are not trivial matters. Victory, however, and beyond the logical difficulty of the pretension, will always be an objective whatever the circumstances.
Rafa Díaz Justo has put together a squad of eleven riders, practically all of the riders available, with only Raúl López missing, to travel to Galicia. Edoardo Alleva, Gabriele Bessega, Tommaso Bessega, Álex García, Sebastiano Minoia, Fran Muñoz, Gabriele Raccagni will start in Padrón. The following day, in Vigo, Edoardo Alleva, Ramón Fernández, Arnau Gilabert, Andrea Montoli, Fran Muñoz, Gabriele Raccagni and Pablo Uría will start.
Both the Rutas Xacobeas and the Vigo Copa de España are two demanding closures of the Cup tour. The Galician orography always guarantees complex terrain and difficult climbs. Both maintain their main altimetric guidelines with respect to 2022. On Saturday, the Alto de Aguasantas will receive a race already hardened by the previous surface. On Sunday, many metres of accumulated height gain and a hilly finish in A Madroa.
20th May: Rutas Xacobeas: Padrón-Padrón (162 km).
21st May | Vigo Spanish Cup: Vigo-Vigo (189 km).
