Oliva Nova Beach & Golf Resort once again hosts the first stage of the Kometa-Xstra
One more preseason the facilities of Oliva Nova Beach & Golf Resort in Oliva (Valencia) host the first preseason stage of the continental project of the Alberto Contador Foundation. The Kometa-Xstra 2020 will remain in its outstanding facilities until next Wednesday 18 December.
The bicycle is going to be the great protagonist of this ten days in which the cyclists of the Kometa-Xstra are going to have the opportunity to enjoy an orography and a privileged climate for the practice of this sport, crossing many of the roads that the Gran Fondo Alberto Contador proposes year after year and that in the last years has become preferential destiny for the main teams of the international panorama.
But these days, which also encourage and stimulate greater companionship between riders and staff, will serve for much more than loading sessions or field tests; they will also be used to hold different talks related to the dynamics of the team, competition materials, nutrition or meetings with sponsors and media.
Carlos Barredo is in charge of supervising all the physical work from his role as coach of the continental team: “This first concentration is always important because it is the first moment in which all the riders work together and we can see how each and every one of the boys are, how they have been assimilating all the work of these weeks and what their evolution has been. The cohesion factor of a group is always important for high competition”.
It is the second meeting of the thirteen cyclists of the staff, although much more intense, since a month ago the riders held a meeting at the Cycling Academy Plaza Eboli of Pinto in which they had the opportunity to meet, or meet again in the case of the six veterans of the squad, with the main sponsors and staff members.
The Kometa-Xstra team is made up of Danish Mathias Larsen, Portuguese Daniel Viegas, Hungarians Erik Fetter and Márton Dina, Italians Antonio Puppio, Riccardo Verza, Giacomo Garavaglia and Alessandro Fancellu, and Spaniards Sergio García, Alejandro Ropero, José Antonio García, Diego Pablo Sevilla and Juan Camacho.
After this first meeting, the riders will visit the facilities of Premium Madrid in the town of Pozuelo de Alarcón to undergo medical examinations and effort tests. The staff will be divided into two groups and will undertake the tests between Thursday 19 and Friday 20 December.
Already in January 2020 a second concentration will take place again in Oliva Nova Beach & Golf Resort which will be the prelude to the presentation of the teams, scheduled for Monday 27 January, and the debut in competition of the continental group, in the Challenge of Mallorca, whose XXIX edition will be held between 30 January and 2 February.
