Moschetti achieved his fourth victory of the year and Sevilla ends on the podium in Tour of Rhodes
Matteo Moschetti (21 years old) demonstrated today in the Tour of Rhodes that is in the best winning streak of his still short career, as he added the fourth win of the year leading the Polartec- Kometa, imposing over all his rivals thanks to the support of his teammates, who worked for him until the last meter of the stage.
In the third and final stage, Diego Pablo Sevilla repeated again in the fourth position, followed by Juan Camacho, fifth. In the final general classification of Tour of Rhodes, Sevilla finished third on the podium and first U23.
The key to this fourth victory of Moschetti, according to his sports director, Jesús Hernández, was that the stage “did not become very hard in the mountain passes and the peloton was not cut. In those conditions, we already knew that if Matteo reached the end, placed in a short climb, he had many possibilities, that’s why the whole team worked for him”.
After the victory of Mirco Maestri on Friday, the responsibility of the race fell on the Bardiani, who led the leader. Moschetti and the rest of Polartec-Kometa Team watched the Italians’ wheel until the end, in which Diego Pablo Sevilla and Michel Ries were in charge of launching the sprint.
In a final climb, both Ries and Sevilla took advantage of their qualities to leave in perfect conditions to Moschetti, who was able to prevail over the Belgian Huppertz and the Norwegian Abrahamsen, while Sevilla won the fourth place.
After the Tour of Rhodes, the Polartec-Kometa will travel to France to run the Tour of Normandy, where also Matteo Moschetti, along with his compatriot Michele Gazzoli, will assume the leadership of the team in the sprints.
