Maestri opens Turkey with a top-10 sprint finish

The competition was resolved as planned, with a mass esprint finish in which Mirco Maestri showed a good condition to finish in seventh position.

EOLO Kometa knew how to look for their options and in fact they managed well the hard part of Giovanni Lonardi. Looking for the best possible result if sprinting, Maestri was the man who got into the finish.

Mirco Maestri: “The race was controlled throughout the day, we just had to make sure that a large breakaway didn’t form with a chance of finishing. We were aware that at the end there was a pretty hard climb and we didn’t know how they were going to tackle it, always bearing in mind that we were counting on the presence of Lonardi. After the climb there was a reduced group but the riders came in from behind, including Lonardi. However, I was quite tired after the effort I had to make and I got into the sprint. The important thing is that we started well and we were all at the front and showed that we are at a good level”.
