Lorenzo Fortunato, the young star of EOLO Kometa, will take his first steps of the 2022 season at the Vuelta a Murcia, looking to get into the rhythm for the most important races of the year. All this in a Spanish triple event that will give opportunities to everyone for their different profiles.

Intense competitive calendar for the team, which, while facing the Tour of Antalya in Turkey, will split to face three classics in Spain, which will also be the scene of Lorenzo Fortunato’s debut. These are the Vuelta a Murcia, reduced to a single stage, the Clásica de Almería and the new Clásica Jaén Paraíso Interior, which includes sections of sterrato.

A slightly less demanding route than in other seasons presents the Vuelta a Murcia, with three climbs, with the ascent of Cresta del Gallo and Collado Bermejo to select the race, while El Cedacero, which is crowned about 20 kilometres from the finish line, will be the last opportunity to break the group and look for a select front group.

The Clásica de Almería maintains its essence, with a mountainous central part through Berja that climbs to Celín, La Alquería or Fuente Marbella. The coastal wind in the final part always gives an extra nervousness and tension for the positioning before the final circuit through the streets of Roquetas del Mar, where the traditional sprint will raise the winner of the race.

Novelty and great attraction with the Clásica Jaén Paraíso Interior. A competition that is expected to be extremely tough, with almost 200 kilometres, more than 3,000 metres of unevenness and up to 7 stretches of dirt that reach up to 6 kilometres in length. With these ingredients, the spectacle is guaranteed and only the most resistant cyclists will be able to fight to raise their arms. A day for classics and brave riders, in which EOLO Kometa wants to be protagonist and be in the fight.

Jesús Hernández will lead the squad in these competitions and he makes an analysis of the three races: “They are very different races. In Murcia, Bermejo will select the race and the climb before the finish line, depending on how the race goes. We can play Fortunato’s chances from far away, in the hard zone, or with Albanese if a small group arrives at the finish. Almeria is sprint territory and only the wind can surprise us, although I think we can try to achieve a great result with Mirco Maestri, who is in great form. As for Jaén, it’s a race to get to know. We are going to participate with a lot of enthusiasm and I think it has all the ingredients to become a very prestigious race. We have riders to be at the front and we will try to be present in the breakaway as well as in the final part”.
