L´Avenir: Stefano Oldani and Michel Ries, called up by their national teams

From 15 to 25 August
The next edition of the Tour of l´Avenir, the Tour of the Future, will feature the participation of two riders from the Kometa Cycling Team. The prestigious French event is held under the formula of the national teams. Created in 1961, its last five winners have been Tadej Pogacar, Egan Bernal, David Gaudu, Marc Soler and Miguel Ángel López. Five names that are emerging in the current cycling scene.
Hand in hand with their respective national teams the Italian Stefano Oldani and the Luxembourger Michel Ries will take part in an edition that will take place between 15 and 25 August.
“It’s going to be a big goal for me,” Michel Ries recently told DirectVeló. “I prepared it well. I hope to be able to stand out at the end of the race, in the mountain stages, and then why not, fight to be in the top-5 or even a podium. The fact that I didn’t run much this spring could give me some freshness in the last few days. The Gran Ducado cyclist finished tenth in the last edition, although that last stage with a finish in the Col du Glandon started in second place after having been second, after Fernando Barceló, in the final in Val d´Isere.
Eleven days, ten stages and another rest stage will connect the Aquitaine region with the Alps. The second day, a team time trial of 23 very sinuous kilometres in Bergerac. And then, a lot of half mountain, started the third day with the arrival in Mauriac.
The finals in Spalion, with its first two thirds very demanding orographically, or Saint-Julien-Chapteuil, another very complicated design with more than 3,100 metres of difference in level accumulated in its 163 kilometres, will not allow any relaxation for the last stages.
The seventh stage arrives at La Giettaz, while the eighth stage plans an online stage of 23 kilometres up to the 2,261 metres altitude of Col de la Loze, near the winter season of Méribel. For the ninth, another not very long stage: 73 kilometres with a finish in Tignes. The arrival at Le Corbier, with the Glandon and the Croix de Fer on the 79-kilometre course, will host the end of a race that is always very contested.

16 August: Eymet – Bergerac (32.5 km CRI).
17 August: Montignac-Lascaux – Mauriac (169.6 km).
18 August: Mauriac – Espalion (163.7 km).
19 August: Espalion – Saint-Julien-Chapteuil (162.8 km).
20 August: Saint-Julien-Chapteuil – Privas (125.4 km).
21 August: Rest day.
22 August: Grésy-sur-Isere – La Giettaz (106.4 km).
23 August: Brides-les-Bains – Méribel (Col de la Loze) (23.4 km).
24 August roger – Tignes (74.3 km).
25 August: Saint-Colomban-des-Villards – Le Corbier (79.1 km).
