Juan Pedro López resists in Aia and faces the last leader in Bidasoa
Vuelta al Bidasoa
Stage 3: Orio-Orio (131,2 km)
The Andalusian Juan Pedro Lopez retained for the third day his leadership of the Vuelta al Bidasoa after arriving with the leading group in a third stage in which he resisted the attacks of the Portuguese Tiago Antunes (Aldro) in the terrible ramps of Aia. In Orio, where he came out on top of a group of nine riders, the Italian Alessandro Covi (Colpack) won the race.
A day when the Polartec-Kometa U23 rider once again did a great job of controlling the race and holding the yellow jersey of the Sevillian runner. As expected, given their percentages, the passage through the ascent of Aia broke the race. The leader, Portugal’s Antunes and Italy’s Alessandro Covi (Colpack), were in the lead. A trio that, in the subsequent terrain, grew until it reached nine units.
This Saturday concludes the Vuelta al Bidasoa with a 77.7 kilometre stage with start and finish in Irún, which is considered to be the hardest of the route with the presence of the newest ascents to Aritxulegi, Agina, San Marcial and Erlaitz on its itinerary.
