Jose Miguel Moreira second in Castellnovo

The second stage of the Trofeo Cabedo, with a very demanding route, started at 10 am to close the first weekend of competition. The mountain passes were decisive and Jose Miguel Moreira was able to finish on the podium and achieve with his teammates the team victory.

The race followed a very similar script to the previous day with a high pace and different attacks that did not manage to open big differences. In the decisive part, after climbing the summits of la Nevera (2nd) and Almedíjar (1st), the race was completely selected. Jose Miguel Moreira was able to be present at the moment of the attacks on the first of the passes and, together with the two riders who reached the finish, manage the differences to reach the podium. Behind, his teammates rode at a high level finishing fourth Eleazar Jimenez, eighth Oscar Orts and tenth Robinson Rincon, achieving the second team victory of the weekend.

Team sports director Isaac Cantón described the performance of his riders in Castellnovo as a “great race”. The protagonist of the day, Jose Miguel Moreira, explained how his podium finish came about: “The race went very well and although I had cramps at the end, I felt very good. On the descent I was able to connect with the first two riders and then stay in the lead. It’s a bit frustrating to lose by so little, but second place is a good result”.
