Iván Loaisa secures overall victory in the Vuelta a Valladolid with Iker Díaz second in the final stage

Vuelta a Valladolid
Stage 3: Valladolid - Valladolid (112,6km)

The last stage of the Vuelta a Valladolid did not alter the result in the general classification with the Andalusian Iván Loaisa securing the win. Iker Díaz was second in the last stage, finishing off a perfect race for the team.

The stage featured three riders in a breakaway that did not threaten the team’s chances of victory. During the stage, a fall affected Iker Díaz and Loaisa himself, but the team was able to solve the situation by changing bikes. Once the situation was under control with Diaz back in the group, they began to stabilize the gap to the escapees with Hugo Pradas. Other interested teams began to work to fight for the stage and neutralized the breakaway.

In the final kilometres Robinson Rincón suffered a fall within the last three kilometres, but the jury gave him the same time as the first riders. Hugo Pradas attacked for the win in the final meters, but the slightly uphill finish was too long. Iker was able to sprint to second place.

Iván Loaisa took the overall classification with Eleazar Jiménez second, Robinson Rincón third and Óscar Orts fourth and best young rider.

“They’ve done great every day, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t, but we had to be there. Despite the victory on the first day, the team has focused on working and teaching the cyclist job. From the first to the last, especially Iker Díaz and Hugo Pradas have worked very hard. They bring great calm and are cyclists that any team would like to have. They’ve all done phenomenal, we’ve been great” summarized Isaac Cantón, director of the junior team.

“The stage was very chaotic. Loaisa and I had a crash at the beginning of the stage and I changed the bike to give it back to him when he got to the bunch and then I had two more bike changes. At the end of the stage we controlled very well and in the final sprint I was a little bit stuck but in the end I was second’, analyzed Iker Díaz his result in the last stage of the race.
