There will come a time to analyse what has happened in these three weeks, in these 21 stages, in these 3,410 kilometres travelled. There will be time to think, to focus, to define everything clearly.

There will be a time to look at what has happened, and to think about what will happen next.

Now is the time to let emotions take over. With yesterday’s time trial, the first Giro d’Italia of EOLO-KOMETA came to an end: Lorenzo Fortunato, with his 134th place yesterday, reached the 16th place in the general classification. A result that almost gives you the shivers just writing it, that moves you just reading it, that seems incredible just thinking about it. His triumphant ride to the top of the Zoncolan will remain in the history of this team, whatever happens in the future.

And the Giro d’Italia of EOLO-KOMETA is also the blue jersey of Albanese worn for three days, the two placings of Gavazzi (and yes, he would have deserved a stage win), the many kilometres of escape, the 6 times in the “Top 10” stage. A Giro that has made our team known to the world, marvellous in its role and fully deserving of the wild card.

The time will come for balance sheets, long interviews and stories. Today, we hold on to the smile of Lorenzo Fortunato: the king of the Zoncolan.

“Is it enough to say that I’m happy? I don’t know if it’s enough, but it’s what I feel: I’m happy with this Giro d’Italia, I’m happy to be part of the EOLO-KOMETA family, I’m happy to have won and also with my final result. Of course, I promise that in the future I will try to improve in time trial… But I’m happy, these three weeks have been intense but beautiful and unforgettable: I thank all my teammates, the sport directors, all the team staff and every sponsor. I thank my family, my girlfriend, all those who have been close to me and who celebrated with me that day on top of the Zoncolan. Now I’m going to rest a bit, and then we’ll get back to work: because there’s still a long way to go, and it’s all uphill. But as you know, I really like the uphil”, tells Fortunato.
