Haimar Etxeberria recovers from a run over on Saturday
EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team U23 rider Haimar Etxeberria is recovering at home from the accident he suffered last Saturday at the beginning of one of his training sessions. Around eight o’clock in the morning, still cycling in Irun, Etxeberria was knocked down by a vehicle inside a roundabout. As a result of the blow, the rider was taken to hospital.
Etxeberria, in addition to various bumps and bruises, suffered a severe concussion that kept him under observation. The evolution was positive and this Sunday he was able to return home, where he will remain without cycling activity for a few days. It is certain that he will not be called up for the Clásica de Torredonjimeno next weekend.
“I am grateful for all the expressions of interest I have received, I feel good, more recovered, although with some pains in the coccyx and one side. The truth is that I don’t remember much of the impact and even some things from the previous days. Now it’s time to relax at home, with family and friends, and enjoy cycling on television. I really enjoyed the Amstel Gold Race. These things come like that, this is also part of cycling and it’s time to get back on track, recover and come back”.
