Francesc Bennassar, regional runner-up in the Balearic Islands

The second year junior Francesc Bennassar won the silver medal in the road race of his category at the Balearic Islands Championships, held this Saturday in the town of Santa Margalida on a rather winding 99 km route.

The youngest of the Bennassar brothers finished the event in the sixteenth absolute position, 3:54 behind the winner of the event and new U23 champion, Pau Llaneras. Marc Dols, the new regional youth champion, was in ninth place.

A hard race in which up to fifteen young riders started in the peloton. During his dispute a numerous escape was formed with a lot of level in the Dols round.

“The rest of the riders in the category were left behind and we couldn’t catch them in the front anymore. In the sprint I managed to finish second in the category”, explains Francesc.
