56º Presidential Tour of Turkey
Stage 2: Konya – Konya (144,9 km)
Eolo-Kometa’s first win of the season is still a long time coming, which is why it will be even better when it arrives. The second stage of the Tour of Turkey lived up to the expectations of those who expected a sprint finish. And in fact, to triumph on the finish line of Konya was Mark Cavendish (returning to victory after a long, long time) who beat Philipsen and Greipel. Our Manuel Belletti came in 29th place.
This Tuesday, the longest stage of this Tour of Turkey: the Beysehir – Alanya of 212,6 km.
Stefano Zanatta, DS of Eolo-Kometa Cycling Team: “We did a good job, in the last kilometres until three kilometres to the end when we tried to help Belletti to arrive well at the sprint avoiding risks as it happened in the first stage. The whole team worked well, Manuel got a little lost in the last kilometre and sprints are like that: if you lose the train it’s hard to catch it, then the Alpecin guys came out and really made a big acceleration. In the end the result wasn’t good, but we’re happy for the team’s work: they’re working hard, everyone’s condition is improving, and we want to continue racing well. Because the results will come”.
