First contact of Polartec-Kometa 2019

Intense day at the Fundación Alberto Contador. The Polartec-Kometa squad met this Thursday in Pinto (Madrid) to begin the preparations for the second season of the continental training in the professional team. A frenetic day of welcome and reunions, presentations and exchanges of holiday experiences. A fraternal day, of living together; a day among friends.

Samuele Rubino, Antonio Puppio, José Antonio García and Stefano Oldani, four of the team’s five new faces, joined Isaac Cantón, Juan Camacho, Juan Pedro López, Diego Pablo Sevilla, Eritrean Awet Habtom, Italian Matteo Gazzoli and Luxembourger Michel Ries.  For family reasons the Portuguese Daniel Viegas left this meeting.

Several talks with members of the training staff, meetings with some technical sponsors, administrative questions, signing contracts and calendar planning were some of the issues that marked the agenda of this first day of the new course of the team.

Irene Albacete and Julio Madrigal, from Rotor Bikes Components, presented some of the novelties that Polartec-Kometa will use during the 2019 season. This Thursday was a date in which the riders also had a meeting with Andrea Morelli and Matteo Azzolini, from the Mapei Sports Centre, to start outlining the new training plans.

“This first contact has been very positive”, says Antonio Puppio, one of the new riders for next season. “It’s always important to get to know your teammates and staff. It’s a great group, very nice people,” says this university student in the field of Mathematics.

“We are looking forward to coming back after a good year”, Michel Ries adds. The Luxembourger, after a very interesting 2018 with very outstanding performances in tests with WorldTour teams, lived an intense second part of the season with his experiences stagiares in the Trek-Segafredo, of which the Polartec-Kometa will continue being a development team one more course. Stefano Oldani, Juan Camacho, Isaac Camacho or Diego Pablo Sevilla coindicen in talking about “illusion” and “desire”. Two unavoidable concepts in a first day of the course.
