First concentration of the Kometa Cycling Team U23 at Oliva Nova Beach & Golf Resort
The sixth sports project of the Fundación Alberto Contador for the amateur category faced its first pedals during this week on the occasion of its first pre-season concentration, held at the outstanding facilities of the Oliva Nova Beach & Golf Resort and sharing coexistence and dynamics with the staff of the continental formation.
Six days of intense work for the fourteen riders and the staff of the Kometa Cycling Team sub23 in which the six new faces of the next season, Arturo Grávalos, Eduardo Pérez-Landaluce, Yago Segovia, Álex Martín and the Italians Alessio Acco and Alessandro Fancellu shared their first experiences with Jorge Pastor, Sergio Hernández, Joan Martí Bennassar, Alejandro Regueiro, Carlos García, Sergio García, Alejandro Ropero and the Colombian Jhon Stiven Ramírez.
A week of living together with a busy agenda in which bicycle rides were alternated with technical talks, personal interviews, pool and gym work, effort tests, biomechanical experiences and meetings with some technical sponsors for the personalization of some of the components of their new Trek bikes, as was the case of the KAPH armchair firm.
“We are very happy with the development of these days, with unbeatable weather conditions in the middle of December, in a magnificent setting and all the facilities provided by Oliva Nova Beach & Golf Resort, where the guys have been able to work as if they were already professional riders. We are privileged to be able to count on this infrastructure also for a U23 team”, says the sports manager of the Fundación Alberto Contador, Félix García Casas.
“This season’s team promises great things. It is clear that the road is the rule and that the competition is the competition, but we are very optimistic with the mimbres that we have and we have many hopes in making a great season,” says for his part the Toledo Rafa Diaz Justo, director of the U23 team.
Arturo Grávalos, one of the new ones, commented during the concentration: “The truth is that I can’t wait to start competing, I’m really looking forward to making my debut”. “It has been fantastic to meet my new teammates, I hope that the health and falls respect throughout the year and be able to give the best of me,” provides a world bronze medal as the Italian Alessandro Fancellu. Álex Martín, who is facing his first year in the U23 category after a great 2018 in the Polartec-Kometa junior, coincides. “Very happy to be here, to live this experience. They have been very productive days”.
