Fetter on the breakaway on Etna: “We fought tooth and nail”.
Complicated and difficult stage, spectacular stage for the spectators, breathless stage: on top of the volcano, fascinating and merciless. A breakaway gone away by force, that our Erik Fetter wanted and went to take, and then the suffering that requires a climb like the one of Mount Etna. This Giro has just begun, the road is long and will bring with it occasions and opportunities to be seized.
Stefano Zanatta: “We fought tooth and nail to be in the breakaway and we succeeded: and I think this is a positive thing, a year ago in the same situation we wouldn’t have been able to be in the breakaway. We were unlucky with a few crashes at the beginning, but among the day’s attackers we were the only Professional. The Giro has just started, and we’re here and ready to do our duty until the end. Relax.”
Erik Fetter: “The goal was to get into the breakaway, it wasn’t easy but I managed to be in the attacking group. I was with them for a while, but on the final climb I didn’t have the strength to stick to the top guys. But I’m happy to have been with such strong riders, our Giro continues”.
