EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team, best structure of the season for the U23 ranking of the Spanish Cycling Federation
The last update of the classification of the Royal Spanish Cycling Federation, dated October 4, has endorsed the first position of EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team U23 of the Contador Foundation in this ranking in the U23 category. The structure of the Contador Foundation has collected 3,676 points, almost 1,000 more than Caja Rural-Alea, second, and 1,108 more than Previley-Maglia-Conforma, third.
A first place that endorses the great performance of the team throughout the season and that already had a first collective success in the hand of the first position in the general squads of the tournament. The team coached by Rafa Díaz Justo had finished fourth in 2021, second in 2020, 2019 and 2018.
Individually, Andrea Pietrobon finally took seventh place in the elite category, with 718 points, in which the Uruguayan Eric Fagúndez (Aluminios Cortizo) won; it so happens that the Italian was the only rider of this category in the 2022 squad.
In the U23 category, after many weeks in the lead, Javi Serrano from Madrid finally finished second, 139 points behind (931 to 1070) the Uruguayan Thomas Silva (Previley-Maglia-Conforma). Three other riders from the squad finished in the top 10 of the ranking in this category: Fernando Tercero, 5th with 821 points (gaining four positions in the last update); Marcel Camprubí, 6th with 774 points; and Fran Muñoz, 9th with 715 points.
The 2022 season will be an unforgettable campaign within the U23 structure of the Contador Foundation for the commitment and performance of a young squad from the first pre-season meeting to the last sporting commitments in Ronde de l’Isard and the Piccolo Giro di Lombardia.
A 2022 season that ended with 18 victories (four of them overall in stage races: Bidasoa Itzulia, Vuelta a Toledo, Vuelta a Cantabria, Volta a Galicia; two of these successes, in team time trials) and a further fifteen podiums in both one-day races and stage races.
