Emilia and Agostoni add to the most intense weekend for Team Polti Kometa

Giro dell'Emilia & Coppa Agostoni
5 and 6th october

The Giro dell’Emilia and the Coppa Agostoni will open the final stretch of Italian classics for Team Polti Kometa, which is also competing in the Tour of Langkawi in Malaysia and the CRO Race.

Triple competitive front and illusion to achieve great results in all the events. This weekend, there are two Italian classics in which to look for success: the mythical and demanding Giro dell’Emilia and the first race of the Trittico Lombardo, the Coppa Agostoni.

In Emilia, the Bolognese race is 215 kilometres long with three climbs in the first half of the race and a spectacular final circuit with five climbs to San Luca that will determine the winner of the race. Starting the race will be the powerful Erik Fetter, the climbers Davide Piganzoli, Alex Martin and Matteo Fabbro; the always combative Davide De Cassan, Andrea Garosio and the stagiaire Luca Bagnara.

Stefano Zanatta will be the sport director at the Giro dell’Emilia: ‘It’s a historic race with a spectacular finish in which we want to achieve a good result. We will look for opportunities in the final part with our climbers, especially with Piganzoli, and we will also try to be protagonists with a young line up in which De Cassan and Bagnara will be our men for the breakaways’.

About the Coppa Agostoni, there will be 166 kilometres that will start and finish in Lissone. In the central part, four laps of a 28-kilometre circuit will be completed with the climbs to Sirtori, Brianza and Lissolo, where the favourites will try to break the race. The same team will take part in this first race of the Trittico Lombardo but with Piga and Álex resting, with the addition of Davide Bais and the Maltese Aidan Buttigieg.

Giovanni Ellena, will be the sport director in the Coppa Agostoni: ‘It is the start of the Trittico Lombardo races, which practically maintains its route. The level will be very high, but we hope to be part of the breakaway and play our chances with Matteo Fabbro and Davide Bais, who should be our best men for the final result’.
