The Italian sprinter from Polartec-Kometa showed himself twice over. First, including a numerous escape of up to 23 cyclists at the beginning of the day, then, fighting in the sprint of the main group. The victory, however, went to Frenchman Julien Antomarchi, who reached the finish line in Gran Champ alone, slightly ahead of him, after starting a breakaway just before the final finish line. Norwegian Herman Dahl retains provisional leadership in a general standings where Ries is the best’Polartec-Kometa’, in 33rd position.
In the case of Diego Pablo Sevilla, who was very involved in the race and was first to crown the third high score of the day, the Spaniard managed to take the lead in the general classification of the combined event. Forgotten are his stomach problems after another day in which he continues to go further in the race. Sevilla arrived in that first group of pursuers, as did Moschetti, Miguel Ángel Ballesteros and Michel Ries.
“We started with the intention of being in the race and we made it. We have been very attentive to all the cuts in the elevation area. The sensations have been very good, although it is true that I have spent a lot and the final circuit has been very hard for me. We all made up for it when one of us pulled out the other one, and I think we did a good job. And on the other hand, it’s always good to wear a jersey and climb to a podium”, explains Sevilla.
“We’re very satisfied, it’s been a very good day. A very positive day. The runners have been very active. I always ask for attitude, more than results, because winning is never easy and it is not even easy to be in a’good’ breakaway that is consolidated by details. Our riders have been very attentive. Even in the big pile that took place before the refreshment service, there were none of our people, an unmistakable sign that they were in front, attentive”, comments the director Jesús Hernández.
This Sunday the fifth stage of the Tour of Brittany will take place, 155.2 kilometres between Colpo and Plancoêt.
