One more year, and with the disputed one there are already no less than 28 editions, the last Saturday of the month of November the madrileña locality of Las Rozas became the Mecca of the cycling sport for the dispute of the Memorial María Isabel Clavero. The race promoted by his family, with Dani Clavero at the front, again had a great list of participants, pro riders, competitors in the master category and great cyclists already retired, in a whole day of coexistence.
Two riders from the continental Kometa Cycling Team took part in the event, Diego Pablo Sevilla from Madrid and Isaac Cantón from La Mancha; the event, open to elites and U23 riders, was also attended by Carlos García from Madrid, from the U23 team. In the task of the exprofesionales the structures of the Alberto Contador Foundation had a triple presence: the sports manager Félix García Casas, the director of the sub23 team Rafa Díaz Justo and the trainer Carlos Barredo.
Diego Pablo Sevilla would finish third in a test for professionals that was held on a circuit of one kilometre to which the 38 participating riders had to complete twenty laps. The Aragonese Sergio Samitier (Euskadi-Murias) was the winner, crossing the finish line with a few seconds over the Biscayan Jonathan Lastra (Caja Rural). In the race for exprofessionals the fastest was the Biscayan Igor Antón.
“It is a very enjoyable day, the day was very good. We meet many colleagues, and we do it without the tension that there is during the season, much calmer. It’s a different afternoon of cycling, with dinner afterwards. And it was also great to have the opportunity to climb the podium. I enjoyed it a lot. It’s been a lot of fun the day,” says Diego Pablo Sevilla.
