David Puente, new Cantabrian champion in the youth category in the time trial discipline

The cyclist from Guriezo, David Puente, was proclaimed this Sunday Cantabrian champion of the junior category in the time trial discipline. The title for the juniors was at stake on a 13.4 kilometre course starting and finishing in the town of Treceño.

Puente stopped the clock in 19’12”, seven seconds behind Mario Martínez (Isidoro San Justo) and 23 seconds behind Luis García (MMR Academy).

“I’m very happy with the way things went. It was tough, but we fought hard. I wasn’t in the best physical condition after the fall last weekend in Torre del Bierzo, but I was able to get into a good rhythm and I felt good”, he explained. “I gave my all, I gave everything until the end. I can finally get rid of that thorn from two years ago in the cadet category”, he concludes.
