Coppa Sabatini: Albanese, your turn
Breathless, without pause, without rest: having archived the Giro di Toscana with Albanese’s beautiful eighth place, tomorrow it’s right back on the road for the Coppa Sabatini. A race where last year Albanese himself was among the great protagonists, a race where the Salerno-born rider transplanted to Tuscany wants to shine again.
The route. It will be 198.9 kilometers with a first 38-kilometer straight section with the climb of Lajatico, before entering the first of two circuits that will characterize the day: almost 25 kilometers to be repeated five times with three climbs (Montefoscoli, Terricciola, the short but very hard Muro di Via Greta). After the five laps here is a new circuit of 12.2 kilometers to be done three times with the final Peccioli climb that will lead to the final finish line and is usually decisive in deciding the winner.
A race that, for its characteristics and hardness, is very suitable for Vincenzo Albanese: around him a team at his service with Garosio, Mattia Bais, Gavazzi, Alex Martin, Piganzoli and Tercero. The goal is definitely to protect the captain of the day, to try to bring home a good result in a race that will see starters of the highest level come to Tuscany to begin to refine the condition ahead of the Tour of Lombardy.
Stefano Zanatta: “Albanese showed at the Giro di Toscana that he has a good leg, tomorrow’s race is even better for him because it is a little less hard than today. The team will ride for him, and the goal is to show off again as we were able to do today.”
