Change of leadership in Añover de Tajo, where the breakaway triumphs after a long and warm day

I Vuelta Ciclista Toledo Imperial
Stage 2: Gerindote – Añover de Tajo (173,6 km)

A seven-rider breakaway that experienced its ups and downs in terms of cohesion on the climb to the Alto de Robledillo, where Carlos Collazos passed in first position with a slight advantage, ended up playing for victory on the climb to Añover de Tajo with a margin of just over a minute over a peloton in which Marcel Camprubí, after a day of a lot of control by the boys in blue, finished among the first.

Pol Hervás (Brocar-Alé) won the stage and took the provisional lead of the race, followed by EOLO-KOMETA riders Marcel Camprubí and Andrea Montoli. The breakaway was formed before the first thirty kilometres of the day and in their time advantage they managed to reach a lead of almost six minutes.

The race, with about 40 kilometres to go, was neutralised for a few minutes due to an error in the route that took the riders at the head of the race off the road. The race was later re-established with normality and very hot, 38 degrees Celsius when passing through the city of Toledo.  This Sunday, the final stage will start and finish in Escalona, with the ascent to the Puerto del Piélago in the middle of the stage.
