Bais and Fetter, a TOP 10 in the wind.
Wind and rain, beating mercilessly on the third stage of the Vuelta a Andalucia. And this time there are two pieces of news: the first is that Pogacar did not win (but one of his teammates, Wellens, did anyway), and the second is that EOLO KOMETA was the splendid protagonist of the day. And this was thanks to Davide Bais (in the breakaway yesterday, in the breakaway today) and Erik Fetter who were part of the group of twenty riders who attacked from the first kilometers. It was an important attack, where all the strongest teams were present and therefore had a very good chance of making it to the finish line (shortened by 500 meters, compared to the original route, because of bad weather).
And so it was, with our two riders who were unable to respond to Wellens’ final attack but still did very well, finishing both in the top 10 (Bais 6th, Fetter 9th). A great team result, on the eve of the two toughest stages of the race: the final classification does not seem to be in question with a Pogacar too stronger than everyone, but we expect to see some more EOLO KOMETA.
Biagio Conte: “We raced exactly as in the first two stages: convinced that for us the breakaway was something very important, to give visibility to the team but also because we know that sometimes the breakaways come. In this morning’s meeting we had said that everyone except Fortunato should try to go in the breakaway, Bais and Fetter were good at getting into the good attack that started immediately and took advantage. Also behind the team was very good, always running in front without ever risking for the wind: well done everyone, today with this wind it was not easy.”
Davide Bais: “Today another day on the attack as I like it. It was a very hard day because of the wind, then in the final I fought for the best possible result and until a few meters from the end I was even in the podium zone. Then the others from behind caught up with me, and I finished in sixth place. I am very happy to have regained the best pedal stroke, after a start of the season with some problems: now the head goes to the last two stages. We will try again.”
