Antonio González is already recovering at his home from the after-effects of his crash during the Santikutz Klasika

Antonio González from Soria is now at his home in El Royo recovering from the injuries and fracture of his right scapula resulting from his crash during the last edition of the Santikutz Klasika. After having been in hospital for various tests and multiple treatments, González was finally able to return home.

“The truth is that I’m in a lot of pain and with a lot of discomfort, now I have to be calm and go little by little”, said the young Spaniard from Castilla-Leon. “We have to be patient with the fracture so that it consolidates well and take the best possible discomfort from the many scratches I have on the left side of my body and face. The stitches on my face and elbow don’t bother me. I don’t remember much about the crash, but looking at the after-effects or the place, it’s clear that it could have been much more serious than it turned out to be”.

With optimism, González can’t wait to recover and get back on the bike, although he is aware that he won’t be able to compete in a season. The Giro U23, whose route was presented on Wednesday, was a challenge he was very motivated to take on. “Now it’s time for a forced break, it’s time to recover well. I remember Primoz Roglic and his crash in last year’s Vuelta: in the end he came back and he came back very strong. He is a motivating model to follow, I hope that I can also come back very strong”.

“Now it’s time to enjoy cycling on television. The Vuelta a España for women and the Giro d’Italia which starts soon. Of course from home I will be cheering on EOLO-KOMETA in the Giro as well as my U23 team-mates, who are competing in the Vuelta al Bidasoa, which I was so excited to race”.
