Alberto Contador Foundation, awarded for its work with young cyclists
Alberto Contador Foundation was honored yesterday during the gala awards ‘Bikes Year 2016’, with the prize for ‘Cycling Values’, in recognition of the work carried out with young cyclists.
These awards, which for 20 years delivered cycling magazines ‘Ciclismo a Fondo’, ‘Triatlon’ and ‘Bike’, are dedicated to recognizing the work of brands and manufacturers in this industry, both road, mountain and triathlon. In addition, each year are given some Honor Awards to recognize the work of various organizations, companies or clubs linked with cycling.
Alberto Contador Foundation has fulfilled this season his fourth year of cycling activity, which began with the creation of the Junior team, led by former professional Felix Garcia Casas, who was also responsible for the creation of the Cycling School Centro Comercial Plaza Eboli, based in Pinto and dedicated to the little ones. A year later was created the U-23 team, led since then by fellow former professional Rafa Diaz Justo.
In parallel, Alberto Contador Foundation has also launched a program to promote cycling as a sustainable mode of transport called ‘Bikes for Life’, with the collaboration of Seur Foundation, the Pinto Disabled Association and Ananta Foundation. Thanks to this project are collected and repaired used bikes that are then sent to non-profit organizations rooted both in Spain and in developing countries.
This award, which recognize the work and dedication of Contador brothers, Alberto and Fran, with cycling is also a boost to continue working on a project whose next step wants to be the creation of a professional team, to thereby be able to offer a complete cycle to future cyclists from learning to ride a bike until they get the dream of being professional.
