Albanese is ninth in the sprint

Tour du Limousin (2.1)
Stage 2: Le Grand Périgueux Champcevinel-Ribérac (182.9km)

This time, it was sprint finish. After the classic breakaway of the day, led by five riders and reaching a 7-minute lead, the peloton took over the race to play for the win in the final kilometers. The EOLO-KOMETA train worked well to bring Albanese to the front, who then stuck to Gaviria’s wheel: the UAE’s Colombian perhaps launched the sprint too early, and this choice also penalized our Vincenzo, who finished ninth. Now Albanese in the general classification is ninth, 12” behind leader (and today’s winner) Aramburu.

Jesus Herandez: “At the end of the day, the result today, a ninth place, maybe not the brightest. But I want to look at the positive things I saw: we rode as a team, on par with the World Tour formations, and I think those who followed the race on TV also saw that. Albanese was a little unlucky in the sprint where he was closed, but I am happy because I liked the team, they always raced in front. When a sports director sees these things, he must be happy: winning is never easy, but we always try.”
