Albanese and Fortunato, two stars in Asturias
Vuelta a Asturias (2.1)
Stage 3: Cangas del Narcea-Oviedo (122km)
Three times so close to the victory. The three stages in Asturias were the scene of three second places for EOLO Kometa with a great Lorenzo Fortunato and Vincenzo Albanese. Whether it was a sprint finish or a mountain day, it showed that everything is ready for the Giro d’Italia.
The final day with an up and down terrain and the final part joining El Violeo with a climb in the last 5 kilometres was ideal to see Albanese shine. He did not disappoint, and in addition to his role in protecting Fortunato, he led the chasing group to get the second place.
A smiling and satisfied Fortunato climbed onto the podium, aware of the importance of this result. Excited about the great opportunity to show his level at the Giro d’Italia.
Lorenzo Fortunato: “Today’s goal was to win with Albanese. On the last climb Yates attacked and nobody was able to follow his wheel to the finish. Albanese got again a very good second place and I got a second position in the general classification, showing that we are at a very good moment. I’m happy, I have a very good feeling and a very high morale, and I believe that we can do great things at the Giro d’Italia”.
