A new opportunity on the Memorial Arturo Grávalos
After a successful Volta a Portugal do Futuro and before putting the five senses in the Giro d’Italia and the Volta a Castellón, the team will participate in a very special Arturo Grávalos Memorial. The team will travel with six cyclists to the capital of La Rioja for the race.
The Clásica Logroño – La Rioja Memorial Arturo Grávalos will be the perfect prolegomenon to a few weeks with a lot of competition for the under-23 team. Pablo García will be one of the cyclists of reference of the race after his immaculate weekend in Galicia with two consecutive victories in Padrón and Vigo. Riccardo Archetti will return to competition after competing in the Ronde de L’Isard at the beginning of May and together with him, his Italian compatriots, the Bessega brothers, Tommaso and Gabriele (second in the race last year) will also be in Logroño after two weeks of rest. Bálint Feldhoffer will be back in competition with the team after enjoying the experience of competing in the Tour of Hungary with the Hungarian national team. Also returning to competition in Logroño will be Daniel Tenorio who has recovered from wrist surgery.
The profile of the race will be quite favorable for a possible sprint. Despite the fact that the profile of the race accumulates a total of 1410 meters of elevation gain, accumulated mainly in the initial part of the race, there are no major climbs and that will mean that, a priori, the race will be resolved with a large group disputing the victory.
Miguel Gómez will be guiding the team “with several riders returning to competition after scheduled and injury breaks”. At the same time, the team will be “very much in line with the possible outcome of the race with the Bessega brothers at the head”. The whole structure will travel with special motivation “and extra motivation in memory of a rider of the structure”. For Gómez, it will be “a nice way to start with a beautiful race and to pay tribute to Arturo”.
“It’s been some time since I raced with the team so now Im more excited and motivated to race than usual, and hopefully we will get nice results. I will have lots of opportunities because I will stay in Spain for 2.5 weeks and I will compete on 4 races from which 2 are stage races, which is also good. I think my shape is getting better and better so we will see how the races will go, but overall i think together with the team we can make good results”, explains Bálint Feldhoffer. “The Tour of Hungary, it was a really good learning experience and of course it was a different level of racing, but luckily I felt good during it and I could get a taste of pro cycling. Apart from that it was overall a good feeling to race in my home country in such a high level race”, he aded.
Daniel Tenorio returns to competition after a difficult few months due to injury: ‘I think it’s going to be a pretty fast and tough race because it has a leg-breaking profile. In the first half of the race is where the most elevation gain is accumulated, but we have to be attentive throughout the course because it has so many steep slopes that a breakaway can form at any time. I think we have two big motivations as a group, being a race in memory of Arturo Grávalos and having won the last few races. And, in addition, I have an extra personal motivation to return to competition after the injury, having been a difficult few months that with the help of the team and family I have been able to cope very well. We will give it our all and fight for another victory’.
