EOLO KOMETA faces the four days of the Tour of Antalya, in Turkey, with the confidence of the good results achieved and the guarantee of being able to make the most of the possibilities to shine on the picturesque routes.
Bathed by the Mediterranean Sea in its easternmost region, the province of Antalya offers contrasts but an eminently flat terrain, which should give the opportunity to powerful riders and sprinters in the expected mass finishes and to good punchers in the high finish of the third day of only 110 kilometres.
The first day of 144 kilometres has only one climb in the final part, the second day is 183 kilometres long with four climbs, two of which are graded, while the final stage presents the mountainous difficulty in its initial part with a hill climb finish to conclude in the capital Antalya.
The technical staff bets for the combination of youth and experience that offer the most powerful cyclists, looking for taking advantage of the speed in the final metres of Giovanni Lonardi, winner in Valencia, together with the Spanish sprinter David Martín who will be able to make his debut this season. They will be accompanied by Davide Bais, Simone Bevilacqua, Marton Dina and Samuele Rivi looking to protect the leaders and also the opportunities that may arise on the third day or through the breakaways. Fancellu’s debut postponed, blocked at home by Covid positivity.
Biagio Conte, sport director in Turkey: “The expectations are good. We have a squad that is very well prepared for this event and has started the season very strong, with good results. The morale of our riders is high, we bring a Lonardi who has already raised his arms and who has very good characteristics to do well in Antalya. Except for the high finish, we believe that there will be three mass finishes and that’s why the riders who can achieve the best results are called up, always in search of a stage win”.
