A day of respite after the thrills and before the great myths of the Dolomites

Giro d’Italia 2021
Stage 15: Grado – Gorizia (147 km)

In this Giro d’Italia of breakaways, in the aesthetic stage between Italy and Slovenia through the Collio region, the breakaway triumphed once again. The partial victory went to Belgian Victor Campenaerts, an hour record holder, while the EOLO-KOMETA riders reached the finish line in Gorizia in a main peloton that arrived more than seventeen minutes after the winner.

The stage, which ended wet, accumulated a small delay because it was neutralised due to a fall shortly after the start flag and with a breakaway struggling to be born. In that fall was involved, without serious consequences, our Márton Dina.

Edward Ravasi: “Today was a fairly uneventful stage for us, although the crash at the beginning scared everyone a bit. Then unfortunately the rain came and we got a bit cold, not a good thing especially in view of tomorrow’s stage. Yes, tomorrow: there’s going to be a lot of climbing, we’re going to get to the top and the weather forecast doesn’t look good. Let’s hope we don’t get too cold”.

A day of respite, in short, for the men in blue after the great day of Saturday, the historic victory of Lorenzo Fortunato. A point and a continuation. Because this Monday the high mountains return with one of the most important stages of this edition. The day that connects Sacile and Cortina d’Ampezzo and faces three of the most iconic peaks of the Dolomites: Marmolada, Pordoi and Giau.
