A day of intense emotions with a beautiful group performance
A day of intense emotions in Asturias, marked for the junior squad by the tragic news of the death of Arturo Grávalos in the early hours of the morning. News that shocks and saddens. The organization, the cyclists and the fans took part in an emotional minute of silence that was presided by the members of the EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team. Thank you very much to everyone for this nice gesture.
In the stage, the longest of this edition of the Challenge Montaña Central, a group of about 27 units with quadruple presence of the youth structure of the Contador Foundation was planted at the finish line in Mieres after passing through the climb to Carabanzo. The fastest was Francisco Crespi (Bathco), winner who dedicated his victory to Arturo Grávalos, while the leadership passed to Diego Gutiérrez. Balazs Pollner, very active in the first third of the race, moved up to the overall leader of the metas volantes.
Miguel Domínguez, Balint Feldhofer, Gerard Cano and Sergio Calvo were the four riders in the leading group out of Carabanzo, on the descent of which the leader until Friday, Héctor Álvarez, suffered a puncture that dropped him. Prior to the decisive climb, great work by the entire blue team to bring down a breakaway (Marti Pratginestos, Europa-Tadesan-Bluepower; Alberto Galindo, Corbatas Pindal, Eleazar Jiménez, Ciudad de Talavera) that faced the climb with a margin of more than two minutes.
