Another Top-10 for Albanese in Coppa Agostoni

It is always good to see Vincenzo Albanese finish among the top in what has now become a constant in his season. With today’s eighth place at the Coppa Agostoni came another top-10, yet another. Vincenzo was once again very good at hanging on in the small group of the best that eventually came to play for the final victory that went to Italian Davide Formolo followed by teammate Hirschi for a magical day for UAE.

The day featured a breakaway of four riders that the peloton caught with about 20 km to go. After a series of sprints and counter sprints Davide Formolo made the decisive attack, leaving alone when there were 11 km to go.  Behind him, teammate Hirschi acted as a stopper on the small group of pursuers, allowing Formolo to arrive alone at the finish line in Lissone. Albanese, as mentioned, placed eighth by with the immediate chasing group.

Vincenzo Albanese: “Another good placing came and I can only be happy. These are my last races with this team and I want to do well to thank everyone for these three wonderful years. I still have a few races ahead of me and my goal will always be that: to hit a result to make the whole team and all the staff get my biggest thanks. Today it would have been impossible to do more with UAE controlling the race and putting three riders in the top group. I really did my best.”

Stefano Zanatta: “Again today I cannot say anything to the team, which raced exactly as we had imagined. Albanese was once again very good to hit a placing that is very important both for him and for us. We are now coming to the last races of the season but we have to keep our concentration high Because every day is good to find a victory. We will try until the end“.
