Augasantas selects a Rutas Xacobeas with an attentive and growing Fran Muñoz
The slopes of Augassantas, those three kilometres at an average of 9%, were fundamental for the resolution of an edition of the Rutas Xacobeas de Padrón in which the Chilean Vicente Rojas (Froiz) beat Marc Cabedo (Telco’m) and Viacheslav Ivanov (MPGroup) in the trio that would play for the victory with a score of seconds over a small chasing group in which Fran Muñoz was 14th at the finish.
The Galician race, which also wanted to remember the late Arturo Grávalos with a minute’s silence before the start, was marked by a breakaway that would reach up to seven minutes ahead of the peloton.
A breakaway initially of six riders in which Llull (Arabay) and Servan (High Level) persisted to face Pereira, the penultimate orographic difficulty of the day, and which would be reached, with a move about 33 kilometres from the end, by the Italian Gabriele Raccagni. This breakaway would finish in Augassantas, where the race was selected and Fran Muñoz was in charge of setting the pace at some point.
