Giro di Calabria: this is another opportunity
The roads of Calabria, made up of breathtaking views of the sea and dry and very hard climbs, offers another chance to center the victory. We all still have in our eyes the splendid Giro di Sicilia raced by Albanese and the whole team, a race that showcased the splendid condition of our rider who, after months of stop due to the accident he had during the training camp in Spain, returned to competitions with a very, very strong desire to win.
Yeah, victory: only that was missing in Sicily. And Calabria could really be the right stage to score the first success of our season. A demanding course, with the two climbs of Passo Zomaro (22.2 km at 4.2 percent) and Monte Sant’Elia (4.6 km at 6.2 percent) to climb, an interesting finish where our Albanese could make his mark. Only one World Tour team (Team Jayco Alula), but the Italian national team with Elia Viviani who was the last winner of the race in the 2012 edition. Among the other riders, watch out for Fiorelli, Gabburo, Tonelli, Restrepo, Colleoni. But Albanese, with the condition seen these days in Sicily, is also rightfully among the favorites. He will be joined by a team composed of Fetter, Fancellu, Maestri, Pietrobon, Lonardi and Sevilla.
Stefano Zanatta: “We are definitely aiming to have a good race, especially with Albanese who is proving to be very strong. The team is the one that just raced in Sicily, with Fancellu in place of Rivi who is going to the Tour of the Alps. We will race to get a good result, we will try to win with Albanese who has all the cards to do it: we will have to be good at managing the race in the best way.”
