The best team of the first day, third place for Cano in Rianxo
Gerard Cano, third, and Balint Feldhoffer, fifth, were the best classified by the U19 EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team this Saturday in the start of a Volta O Barbanza that was resolved with five riders, and the mentioned double presence on the part of the Contador Foundation there, fighting for the partial victory and the first leadership. Pablo Lospitao from Extremadura won at the finish line in Rianxo, while the team led by Isaac Cantón finished the day as the best squad.
A race with a lively start, a lively pace and several movements, such as an initial one with the Murcian Héctor García as the protagonist, which gave way to a phase of the race, still in the first third of the afternoon, in which after the Alto de Beos a group of about twenty riders was formed, including Gerard Cano, Balint Feldhoffer, Balazs Pollner, Miguel Domínguez and Manuel Sanroma for the blue team. A group that would consolidate its position at the front towards the finish.
Before the climb to Cruz de Abelán, Manuel Sanroma, very active during the stage, made an attack that allowed him to have a twenty-second margin over the chasing group. On the climb, however, Markel Beloki (MMR), Pablo Lospitao (Electromercantil) and Gerard Cano (EOLO-KOMETA) came out on top. In the back field they were overtaken by Balint Feldhoffer (EOLO-KOMETA) and Sergio Gallego (Rias Baixas). This quintet would play for the win.
Isaac Cantón, director of the U19 team: “Winning is always difficult, because the rivals are there with the same goals that you have, but the good work must be highlighted and applauded. The team has been very good this Saturday, they have been attentive to all the indications, they have been aware of all the race situations and they have worked spectacularly. We fought for the win, but Lospitao was unapproachable today. The podium as the best team of the day is a nice recognition for that great work. We are now going for Sunday, with the highest ambitions”.
