The illusion of winning again in the Clàssica CV
EOLO KOMETA is competing in the Clàssica Comunitat Valenciana, the race that opens the Spanish and European calendar, where in 2022 it managed to raise its arms with Lonardi, where the illusion turned into celebration. This year, the race presents a much more demanding route, in the opposite direction, with the Alicante mountains as a judge of the race.
While a second group of the team will take their first kilometres in the Tour de San Juan in Argentina, the city of Valencia will be the starting point for the 190 kilometres of the Clàssica CV. The climbs to Barx and Bixauca, with the summit at 23 kilometres from the finish in La Nucia, will not give the fast riders a chance to recover and it will be the climbers who can play for the victory.
The EOLO KOMETA squad for the race is formed by Mattia Bais, Andrea Garosio, Alex Martin, Javi Serrano, Francesco Gavazzi and Mirco Maestri. Although Vincenzo Albanese was initially scheduled to participate, a fall during the training camp will finally prevent his debut in the race, where he started as one of the favorites. His place will be taken by Davide Piganzoli.
The sport directors in the Clàssica CV will be Stefano Zanatta and Jesús Hernandez. The coach from Madrid explains the decisive points of the course: “We will have a first part in which we will have to be aware of the wind, near the coast. The second part is very hard, but very fun and beautiful. The final long descent, with some steep slopes, will be the moment to look for the victory after the last climb”. The absence of Albanese opens the range and the options of the riders who should accompany him in the decisive part: “Undoubtedly, it changes the role of the team in the race, the young riders will have their chance to be seen and to fight in a final in which Álex Martín or Davide Piganzoli will fight one on one with the best riders of the WorldTour. They should take advantage of this freedom to show off and achieve the best possible result”.
