The Central Mountain of Asturias, a next sporting tough commitment with team time trial and hilly routes

XX Challenge Montaña Central de Asturias
From 6 to 8 May

The cycling season continues its course and the calendar begins to face a succession of major events. This weekend the best of the national youth scene is heading to the Principality of Asturias to compete in the emerging Vuelta a la Montaña Central. The race promoted by the Club Ciclista Puerta de Asturias de Pola de Lena is celebrating its 20th edition.

In this 2022 the race proposes three days of competition, with a double sector set for Saturday, in which some of the usual peaks in the race appear, such as the Alto de Carabanzo (which will be crossed on two days, one of them a final stage in which it will be faced twice) or the Faya de los Lobos. This year there will not be a summit finish, so it will be the team time trial of the first sector, a time trial by squads with an ascending profile, that will be the fraction that can establish substantial differences.

For this race, the Cantabrian director Guillermo Gutiérrez has called up the Hungarians Balint Feldhoffer and Balazs Pollner and the Spanish riders Nil Aguilera, Joel Díaz, Álex García, Lucas Guillermo and David Puente.

The stages.
6th May: Figaredo – Figaredo (97.5 km).

7th May (a): Moreda – Cabañaquinta (10.5 km TTT).

7th May (b): Pola de Laviana – Pola de Laviana (73.9 km).

8th May: Factoría Asla – Pola de Lena (82 km).
